Sustainable Sourcing and Logistics
The Group's goals focus on:
- refinement of the suppliers, according to higher sustainability standards and through monitoring of sustainability performance;
- reduction of emissions linked to logistics flows;
- maximum consideration of the source of the raw materials.
The Group supplies a significant portion (about 35%) of its consumption of fibres (cellulose and wood pulp) through self-production. For the remainder, Burgo Group favours the purchase of wood and fibrous raw materials from FSC® and PEFC-certified forests, alongside purchases of wood and raw materials of control wood (CW) and control source.

The EUDR Regulation
The European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), formally Regulation (EU) No. 2023/1115, was adopted to protect the European market from the placing of products derived from specific raw materials originating in areas affected by deforestation or forest degradation. The regulation applies in particular to products such as cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, rubber, soya, and wood, and aims to prevent the export of such products outside the EU if their production has caused deforestation or forest degradation.
Burgo Group is currently implementing the requirements of the EUDR within its IT systems, processes, and operational procedures.

Supply chain
In selecting its suppliers, Burgo Group bases its decisions not only on the quality and competitiveness of the products and services they offer but also on their social and environmental performance and adherence to ethical values.
The Group has prepared an Executive Summary for Suppliers, which states the minimum standards of conduct and fundamental practices pursued by the Group in carrying out its activities, so that its suppliers (including their subcontractors, sub-subcontractors, and other parties working on their behalf) can also comply by adopting socio-environmental behaviours and ethical values within their supply chain.
All suppliers and third-party intermediaries of Burgo Group must adhere to the standards established in the Executive Summary for Suppliers or demonstrate their compliance with equivalent standards set forth in their own Codes of Ethics or company codes.

Furthermore, the Group increasingly prioritises suppliers that adopt more sustainable transport solutions — favouring intermodal over road transport.
Sustainable logistics
The Group’s commitment to sustainable logistics is one of the main factors guiding its operational decisions in the logistics function and in transport procurement. Burgo Group’s strategies aim for a progressive increase in the use of intermodal transport and low-impact fuels, such as HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil).
Sustainable HVO biodiesel, used on some Burgo Ardennes vehicles, is one of the sustainable logistic and decarbonisation measures, part of the GO 2030 ESG strategy.
