Burgo Containerboard: an integrated and forward-looking approach to the future
The interview with Massimo Sobrero was published in the Corrugated Packaging special issue, released in May 2026 and available online to subscribers.
Below is an excerpt featuring some of the most interesting insights.
Q: Among e-commerce, food packaging and luxury packaging, which sectors show the greatest openness towards corrugated?
A: “Without suggesting that corrugated can replace every type of packaging solution, it is clear that today it represents a highly successful option across many sectors. E-commerce, food, luxury goods and industrial applications all show strong interest in this material. More generally, we are seeing a high level of acceptance among end users towards corrugated packaging solutions.”
Q: How do you see the role of corrugated packaging evolving within the Italian printing and packaging supply chain over the next three to five years?
A: “The outlook is very positive, particularly for packaging made from recycled fibres. End consumers are becoming increasingly aware and tend to favour products that use the lowest possible amount of virgin fibre. Corrugated responds perfectly to these expectations: it is sustainable, recyclable, high-performing and easy to manage throughout the entire supply chain.
The packaging industry is an ecosystem in which all stakeholders work together and contribute to continuous improvement. This is why we believe the sector still has enormous growth potential.”
