EUDR Compliance: Burgo Group chooses an automated software solution

The European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) aims to ensure a sustainable supply chain to protect forests and biodiversity. The EUDR seeks to safeguard the EU market by preventing the placing on the market of products derived from specific raw materials originating from areas affected by deforestation or forest degradation. In particular, the Regulation applies to commodities such as cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, rubber, soya, and wood.
The compliance deadline is currently set for 30 December 2026. Pending the entry into application of the Regulation, Burgo Group has implemented an action plan to align its operations with EUDR requirements.
Concerning IT systems, the Group is testing a cloud-based platform that automates the risk assessment phase, data collection, reporting, and submission of due diligence statements to the EU TRACES system.
The platform is designed to be accessible to the Group’s business partners (suppliers and customers) to:
-
build a transparent and traceable supply chain together with suppliers, by monitoring material flows and enabling early identification of potential risks;
-
provide customers with structured and secure access to all relevant EUDR information (Reference Number and Verification Number).
To ensure full compliance with the provisions of the EUDR, the Group continuously monitors and keeps abreast of regulatory developments and of the Regulation’s implementing acts, aiming to incorporate the requirements into its Governance procedures.
