The advantages of publishing a Sustainability Report

The document reports on the Group’s results in terms of economic, social, and environmental responsibility.
However, the Burgo Group Sustainability Report is more than that: it serves as both a map and a compass on the Company's journey to balance industrial growth with respect for the environment.
Publishing the Sustainability Report online is not only an invitation to read but also an invitation to collaborate. Burgo Group fosters open dialogue with all stakeholders — employees, customers, suppliers, and local communities — as a way to improve its social and environmental responsibility performance.

Two key questions: Why publish a Sustainability Report? And why is it worth reading?
The example of Burgo Group’s Sustainability Reports provides all the answers to these two questions:
- measuring the environmental and social impacts of production encourages the company to adopt more efficient and sustainable practices;
- analysing environmental performance helps identify risks linked to a given production model and opportunities offered by a changing scenario at an early stage;
- by concretely reporting on environmental impact and the actions taken to reduce it, the Report helps build a reputation for sustainability based on solid evidence;
- a green reputation sets the company apart from competitors and attracts investors and customers who are more attuned to environmental issues;
- the Sustainability Report strengthens employees’ sense of belonging and engagement, underscoring the value of a shared commitment to making a positive impact;
- it allows companies to demonstrate their environmental and social performance to partners and sets an example of good practice for suppliers to follow.
- rich in concrete data, the Sustainability Report is one of the most compelling documents for understanding a company’s values and its prospects for development.
Flipping through the Burgo Group's 2024 Sustainability Report

Among the Burgo Group’s strategic priorities for 2024 are the reduction of CO₂ emissions, pursued through targeted investments in low-impact technologies, optimisation of production processes, and a transition to renewable energy sources, as well as the reduction of water consumption.
The Report highlights how the Group has intensified its efforts in these two areas and achieved significant results, in line with the commitments and goals of GO 2030, Burgo Group’s ESG action plan.
Reducing carbon dioxide emissions and improving energy efficiency are key steps to fight climate change and, in the long term, reduce operating costs while maintaining market competitiveness.
Burgo Group has undertaken a strategy that includes multiple interventions to increase the recovery of process waste and to reduce its water consumption.
In 2024, SBTi (Science Based Target initiative) validated Burgo Group’s targets, recognising them as being in line with the latest climate science and consistent with the goals of the Paris Agreement of 12 December 2015. Chief among these goals is keeping the increase in global temperature below 1.5 °C compared to pre-industrial levels (or at least limiting it to within 2 °C). SBTi defined the 1.5 °C threshold — the target pursued by Burgo Group — as “the most ambitious currently available through the validation process.”
To help limit the global temperature increase to 1.5 °C, Burgo Group is committed to reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 42% and Scope 3 emissions by 25% by 2030.
The most suitable paper for a Sustainability Report

In its printed version, distributed to shareholders and stakeholders, Burgo Group’s 2024 Sustainability Report is printed on Respecta 100, a satin-finished paper made entirely from pre- and post-consumer recycled fibres.
Recycled paper reduces the use of natural resources and supports the development of a circular economy. Respecta 100 is also Elemental Chlorine Free (ECF): its production utilises bleached cellulose without the use of organic elemental chlorine.
From this perspective too, the Burgo Group Sustainability Report is undoubtedly a worthwhile read.
