Description and specialisation

The plant was founded by Bernardino Nodari who installed a paper machine at Lugo in 1840, but the mill’s origins go much further back in time: handmade paper was already produced here in 1580 and there was also a sawmill that took advantage of the flow of water from the Astico stream. In fact the mill’s presence is shown on a historic national map dating back to 1636.

Today the plant, with its 5 paper machines, is mainly involved in the production of one-side coated papers, most of which are kraft based, and supplies the labels, auto adhesive, flexible packaging, paper shopping bags and posters markets. The paper machine 1 together with the coater 9 are mainly dedicated to the production of high quality coated papers (Larius Brillante and Larius Matt Satin) and single and double coated card for the packaging market. Thanks to the presence of a laminator the machine is also able to produce playing cards with a layer of black adhesive between the laminated sheets.

The plant also produces electric power thanks to two steam turbines.

Recent investments have all been aimed at product innovation and improvements to quality: the head box was replaced in 2006 to include automatic profile adjusting and a pulp purifying system on the PM5; a continuous colour monitoring system was installed on Line 1 with automatic dosage of the colorants necessary to maintain standards.

From a logistics point of view, the plant is located at just 18km from the city of Vicenza and 7km from the Tiene exit of the “Valdastico” motorway.

The mill has attained the FSC forest certification..
