Energy
Rationalisation and efficiency
Production/optimisation
For Burgo Group the energy area best represents our production, environmental and sustainability policies. In addition to our record in terms of energy self-sufficiency, we have rationalised consumption, reduced fuels and, above all, increased the use of cogenerated energy, thanks to up-to-date plants that are moving towards ever-greater combined efficiency.
Our integrated energy system results in a dual exchange that multiplies output. Residues from paper production and slurry produced by waste water purification plants are utilised to generate energy and at the same time steam used to generate energy is then reused for the paper drying stage. A production approach that creates a virtuous circle that optimises consumption and so safeguards the environment.
The rationalisation of consumption, the reduction of fuels and the investments on CHP reduced over the years the energy consumption rate, which fell from 729 kWh/t in 2008 to 677 kWh/t in 2016.
